National Gallery’s intern search is on

The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands is accepting applications for the Deutsche Bank National Gallery Internship 2011-2012.

Now in its ninth year, the internship is approximately 10 to 12 months, from August through to the following July.

“We are thrilled that the Deutsche Bank (Cayman) Ltd. has signed on to another year. The intern receives the same benefits as regular full time staff, which is all due to the generous financial sponsorship of our friends at Deutsche Bank,” says Mona Watler, communications and marketing manager at the gallery.

The recipient works with exhibition curators and facilitators on a variety of projects that cover many aspects of daily operations in a gallery or museum. Familiarity with office procedures, computer and typing skills are necessary. The hands-on training includes curatorial techniques, education, collections management, exhibition design, development, public relations, membership and volunteer management and administration.

Candidates who have taken subjects in art and or/ art history in high school, as well as other fields including business, communications and other areas of the humanities that may be useful to the museum, are eligible.
